BOISE -- Boise State head coach Chris Petersen announced that starting SAM linebacker Jonathan Brown will miss approximately six weeks with a knee injury on Monday.
Brown was injured during the second quarter of Boise State's 38-6 loss to Washington on Saturday. The Bronco medical staff tended to Brown on the field before the senior eventually walked off under his own power.
Brown has battle injuries in the past. He was limited to eight games in 2012. The season before that he played in the first 10 contests, but sat out the final three.
Coach Petersen sounded optimistic that Brown would return after six weeks. The timeline means he could possibly return for either the Nevada or BYU game.
Junior Corey Bell, who started the final five games at SAM linebacker in 2012, will likely see his role increase. Bell had a team-high eight tackles against Washington.
