BOISE, Idaho — A dry, cool, and breezy Tuesday on tap as a weak ridge of high pressure passes across the Gem State briefly ahead of a (mostly) dry cold front that is set to sweep through tonight. As that system advances southward across interior Canada, breezy northwest winds remain in play today, and temperatures will cool again, dropping into the low 60s across the Treasure Valley with increasing clouds throughout the day.
Moisture with tonight's cold front is limited, but there is a slim chance of some snow showers in the mountains of northeast Oregon and the West Central and Boise Mountains as the front passes through. Tonight's system will keep a chilly wind in play and will usher in our coldest temperatures of the week by Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. Frost is possible across the Snake Plain early Thursday, with morning lows down into the teens in the mountains. Moisture with this front is limited, but there is a slim chance of some snow showers in the West Central Mountains as the front passes through.
By Thursday afternoon, a warming trend returns to SW Idaho, with temperatures rebounding back into the 60s in the Treasure Valley through Friday, then up to 70° over the weekend with dry and mostly sunny conditions in SW Idaho. There's a very slight chance of a shower in the central mountains late Saturday into Sunday, but uncertainty at this point is high in how much - if any - precipitation may fall, so stay tuned for updates as the weekend gets closer.

While Rachel started her news career behind the scenes as a producer, she eventually moved in front of the camera as a news anchor and fill-in weather anchor. After spending some time on the green screen, Rachel realized she had a passion for the “why” behind the weather, and especially for the challenges presented by forecasting Idaho’s four distinct seasons. You can catch her forecasts every weekday morning from 5-7am on Wake Up Idaho.
- Weather Anchor Hector Mendoza joined KTVB in June of 2023 as a Multi Skilled Journalist and became a member of the First Alert Weather team shortly thereafter, in July of 2023. Hector started off as the weather anchor for KTVB's Saturday Morning News but rang in 2024 by also taking over weather duties for the News at Noon. Whether planning for the week ahead or just wondering what's in store for the weekend, Hector is excited to help keep Idahoans informed about the conditions that matter most to them.
