Idaho Transportation Department beginning second phase of construction on US Highway 95

The construction is taking place between Sagle Road and Lakeshore Drive in Bonner County to increase safety for drivers and reduce delays.

SAGLE, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Department has announced that they are beginning the second phase of construction on US Highway 95.

The construction is taking place between Sagle Road and Lakeshore Drive to increase safety for drivers and reduce delays. According to ITD Project Manager Phil Stout, the highway needs to be resurfaced to avoid severe potholes in the winter.

According to ITD, for approximately two weeks, crews will be working through Thursday, August 18 to repave the highway from Pit Road in Sagle to the Long Bridge. The department says drivers can expect the following impacts:

  • Flaggers will control one lane of alternating traffic on US-95 Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Nighttime lane closures will intermittently affect the Long Bridge
  • Speed limits lowered to 45 mph
  • Up to 15-minute delays
  • For live traffic impacts, check 511.idaho.gov

The department also says that work during this phase will includes building a U-turn for drivers and installing a signal at Sagle Road.

In the meantime, Sagle Road improvements are expected to start mid-October, according to the department. Drivers on US-95 will not be able to turn east onto Sagle, and westbound drivers will not be able to access the highway. Instead, they will be detoured temporarily to Monarch road for up t one month.

“Our goal is to have the detour in place only as long as necessary, so we have put an incentive in the contract to encourage that work to be completed early,” Stout said in a press release.
