Connector lanes at Flying Wye reopen after 1,500 gallons of diesel spilled onto the interstate

The spill happened after the driveline of a semi-tanker truck broke, which caused the tank to rupture.

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Police have cleared a diesel spill at the Flying Wye in Boise that happened on Monday morning after a semi-tanker truck spilled about 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel across the interstate.

The spill happened after the driveline of a 2014 Kenworth semi-truck broke, which caused the tank to rupture.

The spill closed all but the leftmost lanes and blocked the onramps at Milwaukee Street for about fours hours.

The leak was reported at about 7:00 a.m. Police say the spill began when a semi truck's tanker became punctured.

All westbound lanes were reopened at about 12:30 p.m.
