Leon turns his attention to basketball budget

"This is a crucial time for Boise State and for Boise State basketball," Rice said. "You can't continue to compete for championships if you're in last place in all those categories."

BOISE -- For the four straight season, the Bronco basketball team finished in the top three teams in the Mountain West Conference standings during the regular season, the longest streak of its kind in the conference.

However, a recent report put out by Chris Murray of the Reno-Gazette Journal, stated that the Boise State basketball program operated with the second lowest budget in the league.

As head coach Leon Rice wraps up his eighth season with the Broncos, that's something he says he wants to see change heading into his ninth season.

"This is a crucial time for Boise State and for Boise State basketball," Rice said. "You can't continue to compete for championships if you're in last place in all those categories."

"We need to make a change," Rice added. "The thing that I want to see is a huge commitment in us growing."
