MERIDIAN -- Rocky Mountain junior pitcher Ethan Christanson capped off a stellar seasonby winning the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for the state of Idaho.

Christianson helped the Grizzlies to a 22-5 overall record this season, leading them to both a district championship and the 5A state championship, their first since 2012.

The junior pitcher held opposing hitters to a .102 batting average, recorded 57 strikeouts in 39 innings with an impressive 0.72 ERA.

Christanson plans to play collegiate baseball at Seattle University beginning in the fall of 2018.
