Despite being around for 14 seasons, Mountain View is still one of the newer programs in the 5A SIC. Over the last decade, the Mavericks have transformed themselves from being the relatively new kids on the block, into a perennial power that doesn't just contend for conference titles each year, but state titles as well.
Mountain View played in three consecutive state championship games between 2014 and 2016. A 39-13 semi-finals loss to Coeur d'Alene ended the Mavericks season a little earlier than normal last fall, but they have the experience and talent to start a new streak this year.
