MERIDIAN -- One local soccer player is headed to train with some of Europe's best coaches.

Mia Cartwright, who will start her freshman year of high school in the fall, is one of only 32 American soccer players invited to participate in generation adidas international Olympique Lyonnais Select program, one of Europe's most competitive international tournaments.

Cartwright will head to Lyon, France in August to train with Olympique Lyonnais coaches and play against other top European clubs Real Madrid Foundation and A.F.C. Ajax.

Players are nominated by their coaches and must play for an adidas soccer club.

U.S. National team member Alex Morgan helped Olympique Lyonnais, which is comprised of players from several national teams, to the Women's Champion's League title just last month.
