BOISE -- A man was arrested in downtown Boise early Monday morning after police say he stabbed another person in the head.

The stabbing was reported at 5:53 a.m. in the 500 block of 13th Street.

Officers quickly responded, and took 43-year-old Raymond Edward Ranson of Boise into custody.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The stab wound is not believed to be life-threatening, police say.

The knife used in the stabbing has been booked into evidence. Police have not released whether Ranson and the victim knew each other, or what prompted the attack.

Ranson was booked into the Ada County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated battery. He is due to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.

If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
