Comedian T.J. Miller of 'The Gorburger Show' attends the Comedy Central Press Day on May 23, 2017 in Los Angeles, California.

T.J. Miller is in hot water again.

The actor was taken into custody and charged Monday night for telling police false information about an explosive device on an Amtrak train traveling to Connecticut on March 18, according to a press release from the District of Connecticut Attorney's office Tuesday.

After appearing before a judge Tuesday, Miller was released on a $100,000 bond. The charge carries a maximum term of five years imprisonment.

Requests for comment from Miller's rep and from the district attorney were not immediately returned.

According to the release, the 36-year-old called 911 and reported that a female passenger had "a bomb in her bag.” Amtrak officials stopped the train and directed passengers off so a bomb squad could search the train. No explosives were found.

It was later determined that Miller was on a different train, which was also stopped with no explosives found.

When Miller was asked if he was intoxicated, he told officers he only had "one glass of red wine," but an attendant stated that he "appeared intoxicated upon boarding in Washington, that he consumed multiple drinks on the train, and that he had been removed in New York owing to his intoxication."

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, Connecticut State Police, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department, Amtrak Police Department and Westport Police Department are investigating.

Miller made headlines in December after being accused of sexual assault by an anonymous alleged victim. Miller and his wife of two years, Kate, denied the allegations in a statement to USA TODAY.

In December 2016, Miller was arrested after a car-service driver accused him of battery. TMZ reported that Miller and the driver got into an argument about President-elect Donald Trump, and Miller allegedly slapped the driver in the head when they arrived at Miller's home. The arrest came two days before he hosted the Critics' Choice Awards.

He is best known for his role on the TV series Silicon Valley and 2016 film Deadpool.
