BOISE -- One of Zoo Boise's lions is being treated for cancer, the zoo announced Thursday morning.
Jabari, a 14-year-old male lion, has been diagnosed with lymphoma. His prognosis is unclear, the zoo says.
The cancer was discovered after zoo staff noticed Jabari was not acting like his normal self, and called in zoo vet Dr. Holly Holman to conduct an examination.
The lion is currently undergoing treatment, and will not be outside in his exhibit most days.
Jabari came to Zoo Boise in 2008 with the opening of the African Plains Exhibit. He is part of a pride composed of himself and two female lions.
Zoo Boise will provide updates about Jabari's health as they become available.
