The first day of Women Ignite Idaho has wrapped up, and the conference continues Saturday.
The event focuses on empowerment and equality for women, including mental health and all factors that affect women at work or at home.
This year, Women Ignite Idaho is partnering with Idaho Laugh Fest.
Although the conference focuses on serious issues like eliminating the gender pay gap and race, comedian Megan Bryant says adding a little comedy to the mix can improve mental health even if it is only for a few minutes.
Bryant has researched that studies have linked benefits of laughter to overall mental health and can improve functioning in the workplace.
"It physically does things that are better for your immune system, your brain function and memory there is all sorts of research happening that is proving the true benefits of laughter," says Bryant.
The event will last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and tickets can be purchased for $55 at the door.
