West Valley Humane Society seeks chairs for dogs

The Caldwell Shelter wants to give the dogs waiting for adoption a more homey environment.

CALDWELL - The West Valley Humane Society is asking for some pretty unique donations.

The Caldwell shelter is asking for donations of old chairs to give the dogs waiting for adoption a more homey environment.

Shelter workers got the idea from a Humane Society in Knox County, Ill.

The goal is to make to dogs more comfortable while they wait for their forever homes. They want 25 chairs to start.

"Chairs that are not rocking chairs or recliners, because they are too big and bulky to be able to work in the kennels," West Valley Development Coordinator Lissa Waters said. "They kind of have to be an older fashioned chair that has legs. some space underneath so they can be down there if they would like and for us to be able to clean underneath those."

They are also taking camp chairs for some of the smaller kennels.

If you have a chair to donate, contact the shelter or reach out to them on their Facebook page.
