BOISE -- No one was hurt when a car burst into flames on an offramp from westbound I-84 Saturday evening.
The incident happened at about 7:20 p.m. at the Broadway Avenue ramp.
Boise Fire spokeswoman Char Jackson said the car started smoking, prompting the driver to pull over.
The driver set the brake and all occupants got out of the vehicle.
After everyone was out, Jackson said, the car began rolling forward. Fire officials believe either the brake was not fully set, or the fire melted the brake, causing it to malfunction.
The car became fully engulfed in flames as it rolled down the road, eventually veering to the right and coming to a stop in a ditch.
One person who had been in the car suffered a minor burn, but refused treatment from paramedics. The cause of the fire is unknown.
