If you are looking for a family friendly winter activity -- how about tubing?
Gateway Parks Snow Park at Eagle Island is officially open for the season.
We haven't seen much snow in the valley so far this December, but they definitely have it at Gateway Parks. They have a base of seven to ten feet of snow that they’ve made so far this year.
All of this snow was made over the last four days. They're going to continue to make snow through the rest of the week. The goal is to have a snow base of 20 feet.
The snow park attracts tens of thousands of people each year.
Park operator Ryan Neptune believes so many people come out because of the location. Eagle Island is easily accessible, and for many it’s just a short drive.
He also says there's something fun for everyone to do at the snow park. It's good for all ages.
"So we have skiing and snowboarding for all levels, from beginner to expert, with the terrain park as well as the tubing hill. We have three tubing lanes and we can facilitate up to a thousand people a day," said Neptune.
New this year, they’ve added a third tubing lane.
You can reserve a session through their website.Sessions run for two hours starting at 9:30 a.m.
Gateway Park opened last weekend and they expect to be open well into spring.
