Sheriff's son, 11, killed in horseback riding accident

The accident happened Wednesday in Adams County.

COUNCIL, Idaho -- The coroner has released the name of a child who died from his injuries days after a horseback riding accident in Adams County.

The Ada County Coroner's Office identified the boy as 11-year-old Ethan Zollman of Council. Family members told KTVB the boy is the son of Adams County Sheriff Ryan Zollman.

Sheriff's officials say deputies responding to a 911 call found the 11-year-old unconscious and suffering from a head injury Wednesday. He was airlifted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, then transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit at St. Luke's in Boise.

Zollman was pronounced dead Friday. His official cause of death is listed as a traumatic blunt force head injury.

The boy's family chose to donate his organs, according to the coroner.
