PARMA - A search is underway on the Snake River after a man fell out of a boat and was swept downstream, officials said.

The 42-year-old man went into the water west of Parma shortly before noon on Sunday. The Canyon County Sheriff's Office said the man and his boat were last seen floating down the river toward Gold Island near the Nyssa Bridge.

Officials do not believe he was wearing a life vest.

The man's boat has been found, Canyon County officials said Monday, and search crews are coordinating with the family to recover it.

It was unclear Monday afternoon how far down the river the boat was located.

On Sunday, searchers from the Malheur County Sheriff's Office, Parma Fire and Rescue, as well as several citizens in power boats are assisting in the search efforts. An air ambulance and a fixed-wing aircraft are searching from the air.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office marine patrol was being assisted by Malheur County as the search continued Monday.
