A member of the Boise business community made a big contribution to a local nonprofit today.

It is the season of giving.

7Cares Idaho Shares was very successful this past weekend.

But one local business continued the big time giving today with a $100,000 donation.

Petso Financial announced a special year-end gift to the Boise Rescue Mission.

Owner Dave Petso hopes his gift will inspire other businesses across the valley to join him in giving to the rescue mission.

"Why don't we see if we can't get a challenge, we can get $500,000 or even a million dollars, if we got people together in the business community,” said Petso. “It's been a good year, the economy is booming, let's take a few bucks and get some help for people that need it."

Boise Rescue Mission CEO, Rev. Bill Roscoe, says this gift will go a long way in helping those in need.

For almost 60 years the rescue mission's programs have lifted people out of homelessness and addiction and given hundreds an opportunity for a new and better life.

The Boise Rescue Mission operates four shelters and dining rooms in the Treasure Valley, and has a variety of programs and services all designed to assist people to recover from homelessness.
