Generous community comes together for 7Cares Idaho Shares

Live Blog 7Cares Idaho Shares 2016

BOISE - This year's 7Cares Idaho Shares was the biggest undertaking in the fundraiser's nearly decade-long history.

The annual day of giving live event was from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

While the event is over and the phone lines are now closed, you can still donate online here or in the KTVB app.

New this year, Albertsons and Idaho Power joined the effort, giving even more options for helping those in need in our community. Idaho Power provided a large cash donation, and its employees helped staff drop-off locations at 29 Albertsons stores in the Treasure Valley and beyond (McCall, Ontario, Twin Falls and Hailey).

Gardner Company and Zions Bank have renewed their commitment to giving back to the community. Like last year, the companies together are matching the first $100,000 that is donated.

All donations of cash and non-perishable food items help these deserving charities keep their shelves fully stocked and purses full during the winter months when the need for food, shelter, and aid increases:

  • The Idaho Foodbank
  • River of Life Men's Shelter
  • City Light Women's & Children's Shelter
  • Lighthouse Rescue Mission of Nampa
  • Valley Women & Children's Shelter
  • The Salvation Army of Ada County, Caldwell, Nampa, and Twin Falls
  • Jubilee House of Twin Falls

Last year, a record-breaking $290,000 and 151,000 pounds of food were donated to help the most vulnerable in our community. The total donations from that one day of giving combined to provide nearly one million meals for families in need. In the eight years since the drive started, nearly $1 million dollars and 800,000 pounds of food has been donated.
