BOISE -- An Ontario man was killed early Thursday morning when he was struck by his semi as he stood next to his car on I-84.
The crash happened just after midnight near the exit to Broadway Avenue in Boise.
According to Idaho State Police, 24-year-old Matthew Martin of Ontario was driving west in a Toyota Corolla when he lost control and crashed into the guardrail. Martin's car came to rest in the center lane of the interstate.
Police say Martin had gotten out of his wrecked vehicle and was standing next to it when he was struck by a westbound semitruck driven by 41-year-old Justin Dennis of Caldwell. Martin was in the lane of travel when he was hit, ISP says.
Martin was rushed by ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Police say Dennis was wearing a seatbelt when the crash happened.
Lanes were blocked in the area for about five hours while police investigated the wreck.
