NAMPA -- Nampa Fire Chief Karl Malott is continuing to recover nearly a month after he was severely injured in a motorcycle crash.
Nampa Fire posted on Facebook that Malott is making "steady progress" and undergoing intense physical therapy that is expected to last several more weeks. He remains hospitalized at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.
Mallot was hurt Sept. 24 when his motorcycle slammed into the back of a car on I-84 near Sand Hollow. He was not wearing a helmet, and suffered a severe head injury.
The fire chief was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition, but has improved in the weeks after the wreck.
Firefighters visited him in the hospital earlier this week.
"He continues to receive a steady flow of cards and letters and is very grateful for the continued support during his recovery," the department wrote.
Idaho State Police is investigating the crash.
