Some senior citizens needing a little help to put food on their tables got a special delivery Tuesday afternoon.

Idaho Foodbank volunteers delivered fresh produce to three low-income senior communities including Franklin Plaza near downtown Boise.

The produce was donated by farms from around Idaho.

Gary DeSalvo says he's grateful for the apples and squash he received, and the volunteers who brought them.

"I know they were here about four months ago, and they're really concerned about helping people out in the community, and it was really nice of them to do that," said DeSalvo.

The Idaho Foodbank distributes food to communities around Idaho through partners that include rescue missions, emergency shelters, churches and community kitchens.
