Fire destroys Idaho City family's home

A GoFundMe has been set up for the Hofer family after a blaze ripped through their home early Monday morning.

An Idaho City family needs help to get through the next few months after a fire destroyed their home.

The fire broke out early Monday morning on Badger Way, in the Duquette Pines subdivision.

The house belonged to the Hofer family. The Hofers have three children. Luckily, no one was injured.

The Hofer family's home in Idaho City was destroyed by a fire on Monday, December 10, 2018.

KTVB spoke to a teacher at Basin Elementary School about the family. Jamie Williamson is a friend of the Hofers and has helped rally support from the community. The only thing the family has to worry about, in her words, is keeping their sanity.

"Stacey is a teacher here; she teaches preschool," Jamie Williamson said. "She kind of teaches support groups in different places. She's worked here for a few years now. Her husband, Dave, he was in the military for a long time. He helps with baseball. They have a first-grader, a sixth-grader and a seventh-grader.

"Being in such a small school, everybody kind of knows everybody. But the really great thing about Idaho City is that you don't really need to know anybody. Because to us, it doesn't matter."

If you would like to help the Hofer family, just go to the GoFundMe page.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
