BOISE -- A woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance Friday morning after being struck by a pickup in Boise.

The collision happened on Northview Street near Fairmont Park at 6:47 a.m.

The cyclist was riding westbound in the bike lane when she was hit. According to Boise Police, the pickup driver was turning left from eastbound Northview Street onto Ash Park Lane when he stopped for another cyclist riding on the sidewalk.

After that cyclist turned onto Ash Park Lane, the driver also turned left, hitting the woman in the bike lane.

The driver told police the angle of the sun and the shade on the second cyclist made it impossible for him to see her.

The woman's injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.

The driver was cited for failure to yield.
