BOISE - This year's 7Cares Idaho Shares will be the biggest undertaking in the fundraiser's nearly decade-long history.

The annual day of giving event will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 .

You can also donate by calling KTVB's phone bank at 208-327-7777 or toll-free at 866-297-8777. Volunteers will be standing Saturday until 1 p.m.

We've also set up an account with the Idaho Community Foundation to donate online.

New this year, Albertsons and Idaho Power are joining the effort, giving you even more options for helping those in need in our community. Idaho Power is providing a large cash donation, and its employees will staff drop-off locations at 29 Albertsons stores in the Treasure Valley and beyond (McCall, Ontario, Twin Falls and Hailey).

Fred Meyer stores throughout the Treasure Valley and Twin Falls will once again serve as drop-off locations. And for the second straight year, people can donate in the parking lot of Albertsons Stadium. Here is a map of all of the 7Cares Idaho Shares drop-off locations.

Gardner Company and Zions Bank have renewed their commitment to giving back to the community. Like last year, the companies together are matching the first $100,000 that is donated.

All donations of cash and non-perishable food items will go to help these deserving charities keep their shelves fully stocked and purses full during the winter months when the need for food, shelter, and aid increases:

  • The Idaho Foodbank
  • River of Life Men's Shelter
  • City Light Women's & Children's Shelter
  • Lighthouse Rescue Mission of Nampa
  • Valley Women & Children's Shelter
  • The Salvation Army of Ada County, Caldwell, Nampa, and Twin Falls
  • Jubilee House of Twin Falls

Last year, a record-breaking $290,000 and 151,000 pounds of food were donated to help the most vulnerable in our community. The total donations from that one day of giving combined to provide nearly one million meals for families in need. In the eight years since the drive started, nearly $1 million dollars and 800,000 pounds of food has been donated.
