The Caldwell Veterans Council organized a celebration at the Caldwell Veterans Memorial Hall today.

That's the old Carnegie Library on Cleveland Boulevard, which is now being renovated, and will soon be a gathering place and resource center for veterans from across the western Treasure Valley.

Noah Siple with an Idaho Army National Guard says Veterans Day is about more than just remembering.

“So for me, it's an opportunity to connect with veterans who continue to give back to their community post their military service, to find mentors, and also to kind of buoy them up, and contribute what skills and talents and passions I have just to enrich our lives together,” said Siple.

The Caldwell Veterans Council is holding a fundraiser for the new Veterans Hall Saturday. It's a sporting clay shoot at the Caldwell Gun Club. Registration is open until the event begins at 9 a.m.
