SANDPOINT, Idaho — Family members have identified the skier who died after an accident at Schweitzer Mountain Resort.

Kelsy McHenry said in a Facebook post that her husband, Heath, died "doing what he loved...skiing on a beautiful  bluebird day at our favorite mountain."

"22 years ago, I was told he had one hour left to live because of a stroke caused by a ski accident," Kelsy said. "I prayed and begged to God outside that hospital room so hard to please let him stay with me longer because we didn’t have any children (had only been married 5 months) and I would have no part of Heath left with me if he died that day. I know that God let me keep him on loan these last 22 years so that we could make our 3 incredible kids and build an amazing life together. We’re heartbroken, devastated but we’re strong."

Heath McHenry was skiing on Friday afternoon when the accident occurred, according to a Schweitzer spokesperson. McHenry was flown to a hospital where he later passed away, according to the spokesperson.

The spokesperson said the nature of his injuries and where the accident occurred are unknown. The circumstances leading up to the incident have also not been released.
