BOISE - Officers responding to a report of a car crashing into a mailbox in North Boise found the driver dead when they arrived.

The Boise Police Dept. says the officers went to North 7th and West Ridenbaugh streets at about 8:30 Saturday morning.

When officers arrived, they found the car still running with the doors locked and the driver, a man, unconscious inside.

Officers could not wake the driver and – after breaking one of the car’s windows – determined that he was dead. His name has not been released.

A preliminary investigation shows that the driver crashed into the mailbox at a low speed.

Boise Police detectives have been investigating and, at this time, say there are no signs of foul play. They have not said if a medical issue or drugs or alcohol were involved.

The Ada County Coroner will release the man’s name after family members have been notified.
