BOISE — It's the latest in the firestorm involving recordings that either do or don’t exist that allegedly have President Donald Trump using the N-word during his reality TV show "The Apprentice."
Idaho’s best-known reality TV star was at the center of the story on Tuesday. The Huffington Post reported that former White House staffer Omarosa Manigualt Newman told at least three longtime Trump aides that Boise’s Troy McClain played a tape for her during a White House meeting in December 2017 that included the president using the racial slur.
The report was re-published by news agencies around the country and around the world.
KTVB reached out to McClain, who sent a lengthy statement that reads, in part:
"I am going on the record stating I don't have anything for either side. I do not have a tape, never have made a tape, and have never played a tape for Omarosa or anyone else that has my president saying anything whatsoever.
"I deny this ludicrous allegation and I fiercely condemn this false statement. Yes, I was invited to the White House and yes I visited Omarosa back in December of 2017. It was an incredible privilege that I had and one I would certainly do again should my president invite me to come back to D.C. however any suggestion that I have tape recordings are again factually not true."
