64-year-old Boise woman's death under investigation after bedroom fire

The Ada County Coroner says the cause of death is still under investigation and fire investigators are trying to determine what caused the small fire.

BOISE, Idaho — A Boise woman's death is under investigation after she and a dog were found dead in a bedroom of a home on 2600 block of South Greenwood Circle in Boise.

First responders say they responded to a call on South Greenwood Circle on Thursday at about 11 a.m. and found the 64-year-old woman and a dog dead inside a bedroom inside the home with the door closed. 

Fire investigators found that a small fire started in the bedroom and put itself out within the 24 hours before first responders arrived, according to Boise Police. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Ada County Coroner identified the woman as Jannet Finney on Friday. However, the cause of her death is still pending, as the coroner is waiting for toxicology tests to return, which could take weeks to get back.

Finney was pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday.
