MERIDIAN -- A young driver was killed Thursday in an overnight collision on I-84 in Meridian.

According to Idaho State Police, the crash happened at 12:51 a.m. near the Ten Mile Overpass.

Police say 21-year-old Gabriel Hon of Nampa was driving westbound when he hit the back of a semi truck, then crashed into the barrier on the median side.

Hon was not wearing a seatbelt, and died at the scene from his injuries.

The driver of the semi, 68-year-old William Lager of Estacada, Oregon, was not hurt in the wreck. He was wearing a seatbelt, police say.

The left two lanes of westbound I-84 were blocked for more than two hours.

Hon's death was ruled an accident. The crash remains under investigation.
