CALDWELL -- One person was killed and two more were seriously injured when a wrong-way driver slammed into two cars in Caldwell Thursday evening.
According to Idaho State Police, the crashes happened at about 5:50 p.m. at the intersection of Middleton Road and Marble Front Road.
Police say 65-year-old Anna M. Gonzales of Eagle was driving north in the southbound lanes of Middleton Road when she smashed into two oncoming cars. Gonzales was killed in the collision.
The driver of the first car she struck, identified as 49-year-old Eloy Osornio of Caldwell, was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center by ambulance. The second driver, 51-year-old Linda Knox of Middleton, was airlifted to the same hospital.
Both Knox and Osornio were listed in serious condition Friday morning. Police say Gonzales and Osornio were wearing seatbelts; Knox was not.
It's unclear why Gonzales was driving in the wrong lane. The wreck remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
