Former Rocky Mountain coach named LCSC head baseball coach

Former Rocky Mountain High School baseball coach Jake Taylor has found a new home with a baseball national powerhouse.

LEWISTON -- Former Rocky Mountain High School baseball coach Jake Taylor has found a new home with a program he is very familiar with.

Taylor was named the new head coach of the Lewis-Clark State College baseball program on Thursday.

The Warriors have won two consecutive NAIA baseball national championships and 19 overall, and have made five straight national championship appearances.

Taylor was a member of the 1992 national championship team. He was inducted into the Warrior Athletics Hall of Fame as a two-time Golden Glove winner for his career fielding percentage of .963.

He will replace current head coach Jeremiah Robbins, who has been at the helm of the Warriors' program since 2013.

Robbins (256-64) will finish out the current season before moving to Oregon to start a baseball program at Umpqua Community College next season.

Taylor left Rocky Mountain at the end of the 2015 season, where the Grizzlies went 27-0 in the regular season and was named the Idaho High School Coach of the Year, in order to spend more time with his family.
