BOISE -- A teenage boy is in custody after police say he stabbed a pawnshop employee during an attempted burglary Friday morning.

The incident happened at 7:07 a.m. at the Vista Pawn on Vista Avenue in Boise.

According to police, the 17-year-old suspect broke into the shop, setting off an alarm in the process. Two employees responding to the alarm spotted the suspect and attempted to stop him as he tried to run out a back door.

During the struggle, the teen stabbed one of the employees with a knife, police say. Officers arrived and arrested the teen.

The man who had been stabbed was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Other employees at Vista Pawn told KTVB he was OK and already back at work.

The suspect was booked into the Ada County Juvenile Detention Center. Information about what charges he will face was not immediately available.
