BOISE -- A man accused of stealing more than 200 vases from graves across the Treasure Valley was arrested in Nampa on Wednesday, police said.

The Boise Police Department on Tuesday had asked for the public's help finding 22-year-old Aspen S. Curtis. Investigators say they found Curtis thanks to more than a half-dozen tips they received from the community after seeing media reports.

According to police, the thefts began in late September. Employees at cemeteries in Boise and Canyon County reported that vases attached to headstones at multiple grave sites had gone missing.

Investigators found evidence tying Curtis to the crime spree, police say.

Curtis was arrested by the Canyon County Sheriff's Office. He was booked into the Canyon County Jail where he is charged with burglary, grand theft and desecrating a grave. Boise police said they will forward their report to the Ada County Prosecutor's Office and charges in that county are pending.
