LA GRANDE, Oregon -- Oregon State Police are searching for two young men who broke out of a youth facility west of La Grande Tuesday evening.
Brittain McAuliffe and Micah West, both 18, escaped from the Oregon Youth Authority Camp Riverbend Youth Transitional Facility, a detention and treatment center for offenders who committed crimes before their 18th birthdays.
Both inmates escaped at around 7:50 p.m, according to OSP. They remain on the loose.
Police are asking for the public's help finding West and McAuliffe, but said that anyone who sees them should not approach them, but call authorities instead.
West, who is from Salem, is described as a white man standing about 5'11" and 155 pounds, with a bald or shaved head. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hoodie and jeans. Police say he has tattoos of a pistol and a cross on his arms, and a tattoo of an eagle on his chest.
McAuliffe, from Central Point, is described as white, 5'10" and 220 pounds, with a stocky build. His hair is short on the sides and long on top, pulled back into a ponytail. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, black shorts with a red stripe on the sides, and black and red shoes. He has tattoos on both forearms, including a "Native Pride" tattoo.
Anyone with information is asked to call Oregon State Police at 541-664-4600 or 911.
