Snow geese poached near Nyssa, Oregon.

NYSSA, Ore. -- Oregon State Police is asking for the public's help solving a poaching case after the carcasses of several snow geese were discovered in Malheur County.

The dead birds were found on private property south of Nyssa on Monday, although investigators suspect they were killed several days earlier.

The geese had been dumped into a drainage ditch after being killed. Troopers say the poacher or poachers retrieved meat from some of the birds, but left others to waste entirely.

The Oregon Hunters Association is offering a reward through the Turn-In-Poachers (T.I.P.) program for information leading to an arrest in the case. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and are encouraged to call the T.I.P. hotline at 1-800-452-7888 or contact Trooper Brian Wickert at the Oregon State Police Office in Ontario at 541-889-6469 Ext. 4771.
