Twin Falls Police say they have arrested a man for spray painting graffiti on public property.
Officers were called about 1 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a man defacing a stop sign at the intersection of Falls Avenue and Harrison Street. When police arrived they found the words “Can’t” and “Lerk” painted on it.
Officers spotted 20-year-old Jhoan Martinez-Melchor in the area. He matched a description give by a witness to the crime.
During their investigation, police also learned that a public restroom at Frontier Park had been spray painted.
Martinez-Melchor was arrested and charged with two counts of malicious injury to property. He was booked into the Twin Falls County Jail.
The charge of malicious injury to property is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a fine up to $1,000.
Twin Falls Police say the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information related to graffiti specifically with the wording of “Lerk” in it is encouraged to contact them at 208-735-4357.
