Police say Merritt and the victim, 28-year-old Pascal Baredetse, had gotten into an argument before Merritt ran him over with her car in the parking lot of a La Quinta Inn and Suites on Vista Avenue in the early hours of May 15. Witnesses say Baredetse had been pounding on the vehicle's window shortly before he was struck.

Baredetse died form his injuries later that day.
