Boise police seek hit-and-run driver caught on video

Police said the driver of a pickup caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage, and the crash shut down Capitol Boulevard for several hours.

BOISE - Boise police are looking for a hit-and-run-driver whose crime was captured on video March 10.

Police said the driver of a pickup caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage, and the crash shut down Capitol Boulevard for several hours.

Two witnesses captured part of the crash on video.

Police said the driver was heading south on Capitol just before 8:30 p.m., drove off the road and eventually went over a raised divider and a curb.

The pickup caused major damage when it struck utility poles and other property on the southeast corner of of the intersection of South Capitol, West Boise Avenue and West University Drive. The video shows the pickup getting hooked on a cable and backing into a power pole, before the driver takes off.

Power lines, fiber optic lines and landscaping items were also damaged.

The pickup is believed to be a 2010 or newer extended cab GMC. The pickup is missing a side mirror and likely has additional damage to the driver's front corner and the back.
