BOISE -- An Ada County man is facing charges after a video of him hitting his toddler son in the face began circulating on Facebook.
Issac Elijah Washington, 21, was arrested Monday by the Ada County Sheriff's Office. He faces a felony charge of injury to a child and a felony parole violation.
The video, which was posted on Facebook Sunday, appears to show Washington punch the 14-month-old twice in the face, then grab his head and pull him backwards as the child cries.
A sheriff's office spokesman said deputies began investigating the case Sunday night after a woman saw the video on Facebook and called authorities, telling them she was worried for the toddler's safety.
Deputies watched the video, then went to Washington's home in area of Victory and Five Mile roads to check on the baby.
The boy had a red mark on his cheek and forehead, but did not appear to be injured, according to the sheriff's office. Washington told investigators he was just playing with the toddler when the video was taken.
The child was removed from the home and placed in the custody of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
Washington was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail Monday. He is due to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
The baby's mother was not charged.
Felony injury to a child is punishable by up to ten years in prison. The case remains under investigation.
