CALDWELL -- A young man was hospitalized after police say he was shot during an overnight altercation.
The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 2800 block of Arrowhead Drive in Caldwell.
Police say a resident in the area called 911, telling dispatchers there had been a shooting, and that his trailer had been hit by a bullet.
Officers arrived to find a 23-year-old had been shot in the leg during a fight with another man. The victim was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he was treated and released.
The suspected shooter, a 30-year-old man from Caldwell, is cooperating with the investigation, police say. His name has not yet been released.
Caldwell Police Sgt. Damon Rice said investigators are working to determine whether the 30-year-old was acting in self-defense when he shot the other man, and what the pair was fighting about. Charges in the case are pending.
Investigators say they have determined the shooting was an isolated incident. Check back for updates.
