Building Hope Today helps victims of abuse

"The damage occurs on the inside." Building Hope Today co-founder Matt Morgan says he knows firsthand how childhood sexual abuse can affect a person's life.

BOISE - A nonprofit whose mission is to create awareness about the prevalence of childhood sexual abuse will hold a community outreach conference in Boise on April 9.

Matt Morgan and his wife, Lynne, created the organization Building Hope Today as a way to hopefully break the cycle of abuse.

Matt says he experienced firsthand as a child how sexual abuse can affect a person’s life.

“I’ve tried to understand why us as human beings and as a society don’t engage in this more – in dialogue and in solutions to the problem,” he said. “When a child is sexually abused, the damage occurs on the inside of the little boy or the little girl.”

The Building Hope Today outreach conference is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9 at the Boise Centre.
