BOISE -- A Boise man is behind bars after investigators say they found evidence he had sexually abused a teenage girl.

James Earl Williams, 66, was arrested Friday on three felony charges of sexual abuse of a minor and two felony charges of lewd conduct with a child.

Boise Police Special Victims Unit detectives began investigating the case after being contacted by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Detectives say they learned Williams had sexual contact with the victim within the last few months. The victim is under the age of 16, and knew Williams, police say.

He was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail.

Williams is currently held in the jail on a $250,000 bond. He is due to appear in court for a preliminary hearing Dec. 19.

Police say they are concerned Williams may have additional victims. Anyone with information is urged to call dispatch at 208-377-6790 or Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.
