BOISE -- Boise's beloved Greek Food Festival is back this Friday and Saturday for the 36th year in a row.
Hungry participants stretched down the block around lunchtime Friday, waiting to file into the area where fresh gyros, souvlaki and traditional Greek pastries were being prepared.
Effie Kaufman said the annual event is a treat for those from the Greek community who put on the annual event as well.
"It really brings us together as a community. We spend a lot of time together, we get to know each other in a different way and we love talking about recipes and sharing the different villages in Greece - how they are alike, how they are different," she said. "We just grow and learn more and more every year."
In addition to food, the event features a band, Greek dancers and tours of the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church
The festival runs Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.It is located at 2618 West Bannock Street in Boise.
