Tickets on sale now for Coeur d’Alene Mac and Cheese festival in January

Tickets are going quick, according to the Coeur d'Alene Business Association.

COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – Tickets are now on sale for the Coeur d'Alene Mac and Cheese Festival coming to town in January.

Get ready to give up on your healthy eating New Year's resolutions pretty early this year!

Coeur d’Alene will play host to a Mac and Cheese Festival on January 13.

Attendees will get to sample local chefs’ takes on the classic childhood dish, and then vote for their favorite.

The chef with the most votes will win the “Golden Noodle Award.”

So far, the Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association would only tell us two of the six restaurants competing, including Sweet Lou's. Their manager said they plan to make their most popular menu item, bacon mac and cheese.

"We tried to make it like back how it was when you were a kid," Chad Foust, the manager said. "Thick, creamy, velvety. So that's exactly what we did."

He said they throw in a few veggies like mushrooms, then add their cream cheese sauce, bacon and parmesan cheese. He said their strategy also involves noodle choice - apparently elbow noodles don't hold as much of the sauce as other styles of noodle.

For those interested in attending the festival, it is $15 to get six mac and cheese “tasters” and $25 to get the six mac and cheese “tasters” plus six beer tastings.

Tickets are available for purchase online here and are going quick, according to organizers.

Officials said they save some tickets to sell at the door, so even if you do not get them online you might still be able to buy when you get there on January 13.
