BOISE--The start of the college football season is just days away from kicking off. Boise State opens fall camp on Thursday, meaning the Broncos are just three days away from starting their campaign in the Mountain West. While it may be hard to look past the season opener against Georgia on September 3, there are also a few conference games that fans can get excited about. Perhaps the biggest is that huge match up against TCU, in Boise on November 12. TCU Linebacker Tank Carder said. "We've got a lot of young guys coming in. We lost a lot of seniors last year. So the main goal right now is to get through two-a-days and get everybody on the same page so we can see what kind of football team we are going to have." TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson said. "You get half of your practices done for the whole season before you play your first ballgame. So, we'll know going into our first ballgame really what kind of a football team we have."
The Horned Frogs are a team that lost some very key players this year, none bigger than quarterback Andy Dalton who went to the NFL. But TCU is also coming off of a fantastic undefeated season that ended with a two point Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin. The Horned Frogs say that in order to reproduce that success, they need to find out just what they have.
"We're looking forward to the first game to see if we can get our young guys on the same page as everyone on the team,"
"For us, going back every year, two-a-days, trying to build the best football team that we can is what our motivation is right now,"
That match up was expected to be played in Fort Worth originally, but Mountain West presidents voted to hold the game in Boise. It will likely be a definite advantage for the Broncos, who are 69-2 at home over the last decade, and something that the Horned Frogs don't appreciate.
"To me it's part of it," Patterson said. "It's part of the game, they're protecting their league. I was little disappointed that we're considered not being in the league this year, by moving that game. But outside of that you've got to go play ballgames."
The Broncos and Horned Frogs have met three times in the past, with BSU winning two of the three. The last Bronco victory came two years in a seven point win in the Fiesta Bowl.
