VIENNA, Austria -- Former Boise State fullback Richie Brockel has taken his game international.

Brockel is the fullback for the United States national team which is playing at the International Federation of American Football Senior World Championships this week.

"It's something you think about when you're a little kid," said Brockel.  "You know, you watch Dream Team basketball and then think it would be great to play on Team USA and now you're doing it."

It's an opportunity Brockel would have never really looked into if it wasn't for his former coach, Dan Hawkins.

"Coach Hawk got a hold of me and told me that Cody was doing it and got me into it and got me flowing in the whole thing, so Coach hawk really helped me out with that when Cody got in," said Brockel about joining the US National Team.

Brockel is hopeful his experience at the world championships will help him to continue his career at the pro level, whether it be in the NFL or in a league over in Europe.

The U.S. will play Canada in the gold medal game of the IFAF Senior World Championships on Saturday.
