CLACKAMAS, Ore. -- A martial arts instructor from Clackamas is behind bars accused of sexually assaulting two of his students.
Clackamas County deputies arrested 37-year-old William "Brent" Mullens, the lead instructor at Northwest Martial Arts near SE Sunnyside and 131st.
"This is a position that Mr. Mullens had where he was dealing, as an instructor, to a number of individuals, youths, teenager types," said Detective Jim Strovink of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
"It's pretty sad if it's true, but until he's proven guilty we can't say if it's true and we're hoping it's not," said owner Gloria Wilson, a neighboring business owner who admits she has never seen anything unusual at the studio.
Mullens lives in an apartment at Harmony Court in Milwaukie. The complex manager says he has never seen any sign of bad behavior.
"He is very involved, a lot of parents around," added Dave Heller. "He seems very involved in kids and cares about kids."
