ONTARIO, Ore. -- Authorities say 52 inmates at Snake River Correctional Institution were put in a segregation unit and the prison remains in lockdown after two fights broke out.
Prison spokesman Amber Campbell says the two fights started within seconds of each other Saturday night.
She says the fights took place outside two different housing units, and the maximum of 80 inmates were in one of the units and 78 were in the other.
The Argus Observer newspaper in Ontario reports one inmate was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation but returned later Saturday night. No staff injuries were reported.
Campbell says no weapons were used.
